Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #201 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) We are climbing, sometimes steeply. Through neighbourhoods with parks. We stop briefly outside Parliament. A disgruntled fisherman is staging a demo outside. Edited February 3, 2022 by NorbertsNiece
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #202 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) We reach the most incredible look out point. Mirador de São Pedro de Alcântara. The view is superb. Sadly my panorama shot is bendy not straight so I won't share it to save your eyes 🥴 Visited a couple of churches but as Mass was being celebrated it wasn't appropriate to take photographs. salisburyfella Posted February 3, 2022 #203 Share Posted February 3, 2022 What an amazing blog! Is there such a thing as too many pics? So..... my question is, are there bridge lessons/tournaments? We'd love to go on the Saga trip to the Caribbean later this month, but with so many sea days, bridge is quite important. And do you have to wear face nappies in the theatre? Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #204 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) We are now in the Largo do Carmo (the square). The church is Igreja do Carmo, a reminder of the devastating earthquake experienced in Lisbon in 1755. I walk to the top of the Santa Justa lift to see the view. Blue letterbox for 1st class post I'm told. Edited February 3, 2022 by NorbertsNiece

Theatre is definitely audience masked 😷
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #206 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) The foot of the lift. On May 12, 1982, Pope John Paul II visited the church. He inaugurated a statue of Saint Anthony (by sculptor Soares Branco) in the square in front of the church and prayed in the crypt, which marks the spot where the saint was born. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #207 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) Teatro Romano de Lisboa discovered under the rubble of the 1755 earthquake, many of the seats, orchestra and stage are identifiable. They've also attempted to show it how it may have looked. Edited February 3, 2022 by NorbertsNiece
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2022 Author #208 Share Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) Had to post here before going to bed. Went to the show in the theatre. Preceeded by a farewell from the captain and crew on film a parade of staff from all around the ship took place. Captain Ryan made a personal appearance too. The show? It was absolutely spectacular. West End quality performances, multiple costume changes which were superb and the range of shows left me speechless. When the band started up a few notes from 'A Chorus Line' I almost burst into tears as I've only seen the film multiple times but never performed. Wow. And this was their very last company performance. What a very hard act to follow. Bravo tutti!! Letters and choccies in our room. LondonLad60 Posted February 4, 2022 #216 Share Posted February 4, 2022 Hi Linda Thank you so much for the most comprehensive, informative and interesting cruise blog it has ever been my pleasure to read. It must have taken up a great deal of your time uploading all the photos along with the accompanying text. I especially appreciated the photos of the menus from each restaurant, along with photos of the dishes themselves. My wife and I are on Adventure in June (An Exhibition of the Baltic) and I'm looking forward to it more than ever having read your blog. Many thanks again for writing it. They weren't obvious on arrival as they are in a further shed.
