Interested in experiences with this.    I am hoping it won't be a red-eye 🙂

I have experience with this! Had booked Air and Transfers with NCL for 2 week cruise New York to New Orleans November 7,2021. Originally got booked on a non stop Delta from New Orleans to New York and was very happy with it. Then it got changed to AA with 1 stop in Charlotte leaving N.O. at 5:10 AM day of cruise. Around 4:30 PM day before cruise got notified that N.O. flight was cancelled. Called NCL and was told to call AA. AA could not find a flight. Called NCL back after several minutes of agent not being able to get their air department to answer, I was told "if you want to go on the cruise you better make your own arrangements." I could not find flights for the day of cruise to get us there on time. Found Delta non stop leaving in 2.5 hours, so we booked it, and finished packing and hurried to airport. Rented hotel in New York and used Ubers from airport to hotel and hotel to port. Could not even use the transfers. Extra cost over $900, no refunds from NCL. I know I will get replies saying "Well you should of had insurance or another reason for going a day or two before the cruise!"

We are booked through the casino, for a cruise out of Rome (Greek Islands) in June with an airfare offer.   We really (really) want to go several days early, and stop off in Paris, Munich or another non-port city, since we've been to Rome several times.

Anyone have experience with a bigger diversion like that?

Ideally, we'd fly 'through' another city, and have a really (really!) long layover there, before arriving in Rome the day of debarkation.

This is why I am questioning the value in using NCL air deal...horror story

You do realize that the majority of the posts you will read on the subject will probably be negative just because people are more likely to complain than praise.

I've done ok with NCL flights - A few close calls but that might have happened to anyone, even if they booked on their own.  But I did just apply for Global Entry so I don't have to wait in the immigration line when coming back from overseas.  Not sure NCL always factors that into the equation when booking flights.

I think you can request a longer deviation if you book your hotel through NCL.  Doubt that you can request a long layover and you wouldn't be able to choose the city.

You can however just do one way, they will charge you half.

We had been waiting for our flights to NOLA with NCL BOGO Air. Although not the best flight time in a day early, we will still get to see the nightlife for a few hours. We are booked on Delta. There were several flights that left earlier, cheaper, and tons of space (more than our booked flight). Our return flights were the most optimal, but a delay could impact us making the flight. If things go smoothly, we have an 11AM flight home on Easter Sunday. We were worried that would have been a red-eye getting us in sometime on Monday. I will let you know how it all plays out in 6 weeks.
