To add my 2 cents, moved to N Myrtle Beach when I retired and live in a $300 + K  house one mile from the beach and my property tax last year was $861.33, (Homestead) with my old people discount.

Wow.  We live on a small 50 x 100 foot lot - in a 3 BR ranch - about 1500 sq ft.  We're in the Chicago burbs and pay $7200 a year in property taxes.  My sister-in-law lives in Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri on a 1/2 acre on the lake and pays about what you pay.  I know other states are more expensive than around Chicago, though - like New York and California.

So enjoyed the pictures of the island. They must be very devastated there with literally 10% of the tourism they used to have plus trying to rebuild after the hurricane. I hope that tourism is able to pick back up some this year to get some money flowing again for the islanders!

Hey neighbor- right across the river from you. I’m in lower Westchester. I wanted to get on at Bayonne, but nothing available so I’m heading to Miami in two weeks.

Hiya neighbor, slim pickins in the winter season but Oasis is heading back in May, adventure if the sea will be there along with Anthem!  Enjoy your cruise!

So, they would be OK with a 9 oz filet with the spicy shrimp, but would frown upon the rack of lamb with a 6 oz filet?  Or would it be a YMMV.

Shrimp was okay but they pushed back on double meats but you can try YMMV.  We did not try to order double steak.  Chops is the only place where they pushed back.  All the other venues you can have three if you wanted.  If you have a seasoned served then most likely you will be okay but someone that just started they will be following the rules.  It is the only place where they print the charge about ordering multiple entrées.

Morning. First thing I did as awoke was check your blog. What’s been your favourite restaurant for supper such that you’d go back on a 7 day cruise? And for lunch?

Thank you so much.  I hope I am keeping you entertained!

This is because we have the specialty dinning package.  Check back next week for the “value” cruise as I will be dinning at all complimentary venue.

my favorite place for supper has to be 150 Park. It is elegant and the food is fantastic.  I know that this is against the norm on the board but my least favorite is Chops.

For lunch I like Giovanni’s table.  There are plenty of things to chose from and I don’t feel very limited at lunch time.  Chops menu for lunch is small.

Wow… that is a lot of property taxes paid … think of the cruises you could be taking if you lived somewhere else… I do lol 😂

It was sad and I certainly hope they bounce back!  It is a beautiful place.  A lot of tour operator that used to be there left to go back to the states so hopefully things will slowly return back.

Day 6 Sea Day

Got up and went to the gym to work off some of those tiramisu calories.  Very slow start and moving very slowly today.  I picked up a ring that someone lost on the floor by the treadmill and brought it to the front desk.  It’s amazing the things people drop at the gym!  Watch your belongings!

Day 6 Sea Day Lobster Night Too!

What a dilemma… lobster night with unlimited dinning package … I will have to ask if they can bring me a side of lobster somewhere tonight so I can have a preview for next week’s lobster night!

Just read all the pages of your posts along with the great pictures.  THANK YOU!  You really had a challenge getting to Miami and I am proud of your patience.  We have been there and gone through what you did.   Have a fantastic rest of the cruise.

Thank you so much and welcome aboard the virtual cruise!  Stay tuned for the value portion of the cruise next week 😝

Day 6

We really did not do much today.  We had lunch and then checked out the casino.  On this cruise they are running a promotion, 800 reward points for a free cruise!  I believe the reward points is $5 to a point when you cycle it through the slot machine.  Some lady was betting $12.50 a sling and she hit 3 Jackpots within 10 minutes.  About $2000 a piece!

That's a heck of a lot better than a free inside cabin for 800 reward points 🙂

Wow. Did you have to book as it’s a sea day?

Right now with low passenger count you don’t need reservations for Izumi Sushi.  If you want Izumi Hibachi you need to make a reservation ASAP once you are onboard with any dinner package and remember there is a surcharge of $10 PP when using the package.
