cruzrmomma Posted February 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Went on Sapphire-and now want to to go on Diamond to Mexico. Will this feel like the same cruise? I know the ships are the same, but is it the same entertainment, food, etc? Is Diamond any better in the food dept.? Thanks
spongerob Posted February 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2006 The Diamond was originally the Sapphire and vice-versa. The Sapphire started out as the Diamond but caught on fire and they had to start over, so the Sapphire hull under construction was called the Diamond because Princess already had brochures and press releases stating that Diamond Princess would be the first ship out of the yard in Japan but after the fire Sapphire would be ready first and it would have confused the snot out of everyone. Clear? :) Other than that, not much.
Sillyjilly Posted February 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2006 I've been on both. They are twins. Same look and food. We skipped the entertainment, so I can't comment on that. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other. :) Jill
calikak Posted February 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2006 The artwork decorating the ship is a little different. Otherwise, I believe they are identical.
jlp20 Posted February 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Other than the “art” on the walls and staircases, the ships are identical. Ship’s officers, crew and talent change all the time. The production show “Piano Man” was/is on both ships. Makes sense when you think about it, identical ships makes it very easy to produce sets for two ships at a fraction of the cost. jlp20 Posted February 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Just wondering why you asked the basic same question on the 21 st. Don't mind answering intelligent questions, but at least ask a different question....
