I’ll probably write a more detailed blog post today.
Yesterday was fabulous.   We loved our lunch.   Explored the ship.  Had mojitos with the famous Bong.  Met up with people from the F book group there.  Drank a bunch.  Enjoyed a great dinner.  We were a little late to the Beatles show (about ten min) in main theater so we stood in the back rather than disturb people.  Great music.  Explored some more. Had a quick salsa dance and but the casino.
Clocks went back and I’m up way too early.

Thank you for these updates!  We will be cruising the Joy Haven in April and were hoping Bong would be on the ship.  I am so happy to hear he is there!  I will be looking for and appreciating any details you can provide about your experience!

First sea day yesterday and it was great!  Weather started rainy but cleared up by noon.  Went to the pub crawl after the meet and greet.  Had a very nice Woodford Old Fashioned followed by the Sustainable cocktail of the day.

Could you please ask Bong if he was the bartender on the Crown Odyssey many years ago?!!  I know he went on to NCL but we lost track of him!  Our sons adored him!  He taught them about his life in the Philippines.  We are the Antunez's.

Love following along on your cruise!  We did the Haven in Alaska last August!  Keep up the great posting!

We are also on the Joy now.   Took Uber from the Intercontinental and it was very quick and painless (first time using Uber with out our young adult children so I was a little concerned about the process as they are always in charge of that).

I have to laugh at your comment about letting our young adult children take care of those things! We have to step up our game when they leave the nest! 😉. I have had to learn MANY new things on my own (we have 30 and 41 year old sons!).  Happy cruising and thank you for your posts!

"You're killing me Smalls" but THANKS.  Thanks for taking time to share your experience. Our time on the Joy is a long way out.  Seeing a DRINK pic ( all caps and proof read twice)  or two from your vacation ( appriciate you listing what they are) , a quick word of the show ( so i can plan what to see)  and an occational menu / event listing ( Pub crawl- it that is an acually thing? sign me up!, if not I am going to do that!, guess I already kind of do that but NOW it gonna be an actually thing !) all make the anticipation of out time on the ship more exciting, especially after such a long hiatus .  just wanted to say THANKS from a work desk! ENJOY and please continue to keep us updated!

Tried to update the blog and no dice yet.  I wrote all the days so far so I don’t forget what I did.
I highly recommend doing the meet and greet or pub crawl.  Sometimes you meet great people so it’s worth a shot.  One suggestion is wear a tshirt of your college, town, band, or anything you could talk about.  It’s a great icebreaker.
It was pouring in Roatan this morning.  Sun came our for a couple hours then the skies opened while I was in the hot tub.  Had to run inside before I got wet.  Lol.  Seriously it was a cold rain.  But I have found shelter with an Aperol Spritz.

Thanks for more updates rxlowry - Love the drink pics! (yes, I double-checked my spelling too, Charlie M 🙄).

Nice to see you are enjoying some varied offerings. (I seldom stick to the same drink all night - life's too short.)

Was the pub crawl an organized event or a self-guided endeavor?

1500 pax on the Joy sounds fantastic (though NCL management likely doesn't share my enthusiasm).

It is the same Bong.  He seemed excited someone knew the Crown Odyssey.  I couldn’t remember your name but I just made a note and will talk to him about it later!

Hi, I do not want to hi-jack this tread, but I understand you upgraded to a Haven Suite.  I know you had the same questions we had about the "suites".  We upgraded as well to a HI.  Do you have a Haven suite with the 3rd person on a pullout chair?  We were wondering how high that chair is and how tall it will be opened up.  My sister will be sleeping on it and we are requesting an egg crate mattress pad but are concerned it may low to the floor.  We may need two.  Thanks, Susique

Talking about Bong .... can you do me a favour and show this picture that I took of him on the Encore during her inaugural Transatlantic crossing from Southampton to New York in Nov 2019. It is from a couple from Bermuda who gifted him with a Black Seal hat during Escape's inaugural Transatlantic crossing back in Oct/Nov 2015.

Yes, we are in a HI with the chair.  As it is just my husband and I, we are not using the chair as a bed.   However, I just took a better look at it and it does seem low to the ground.  I took a picture of it with my tablet leaning against it so you can kinda see how low to the ground it is.

We actually didn’t bid for our cabin and booked it our right since we wanted to definitely be in Haven
It’s not real high without opening.  Haven’t opened it so I’m not sure.  When my daughter has slept on these in balcony cabins she wasn’t a fan but she survived.

Dinner last night was Food Republic. So much food if you use the dining package!
Approaching Costa Maya and hoping for some better weather.
No ports or shows cancelled.
capacity is low enough that reservations are easy to get (used the touchscreen not concierge)and plenty of seats for the show walking in five minutes before.

You are very welcome and yes we are having an wonderful but the weather has not been cooperating at all.    April should be beautiful and you will be happy you upgraded (even though I still think it was wrong what they did to us both regarding the suites).

The weather today is much improved!!  We took a nice walk early this morning in Costa Maya.   It started to rain but cleared up around eleven and stayed beautiful.  We enjoyed a nice lunch in the courtyard. Had a few Pimm’s cup and decided to hit the water slides.  Chris did both but I only did the one with the inner tube.

Tonight we have our Sapphire dinner in Le Bistro.  We are debating just going for appetizers and doing an entree in the Haven.  I usually order the beef there and have already had two beef entrees.

It is an acrobat duo in the theater tonight so I think that’s the plan.
