Suggestions for first night on Silver Muse

Am getting excited planning our first Silversea cruise.  I am with a group of around 20 and wondered where should we dine on the first night.  We don't all sit at the same table i.e. prefer small tables of around 4 but close enough to chat with the next table.    I had thought about outside on the deck for sailaway (it will be a warm weather cruise) but wondered if the meal will be 'special' enough for a first time memory. Also where does everyone go after dinner?  And if sail away is scheduled for around 7pm what time is normal boarding?   Really appreciate your input.  Many thanks.

Hi jwh, great question! I look forward to hearing the types of responses you receive.

My personal preference on the 1st night of a Muse sailing is La Terrazza -- outside if possible. That's partly because although where I live is considered to be a foodie heaven, we lack decent Italian food with handmade pasta. By the time I'm onboard, that's what I'm craving. The Grill can also be a lot of fun on the first night at sail-away, but actually Spaccanopoli would be even better -- it is on a higher deck, and you'd really get the sense of sailing away together.

Twenty is a big group, so I would think about the larger venues. Even when I sailed on a full Muse a few years ago, Indochine was never full (and I happen to LOVE their food). So much so that Indochine was made smaller when the Spirit was Muse-ified. Atlantide is exactly the same size, but likely to be more crowded on the first night.

Venues to avoid with a large group on night 1 due to their smaller size: Silver Note, Kaisecki, La Dame.

You've probably already thought of this, but you may want to select a gathering place for before dinner, and make that your regular place. For a group your size on the Muse, I would choose Dolce Vita, near the bar area. The bartender will get to know you and your group well, and that is part of the fun.

I'll let others respond about what to do after dinner 🙂

Enjoy!

Hi, I love Terrazza as well but there are no large tables outside. Inside, they can set it up for you.....3 6tops and then a deuce (example). But all the times I have eaten outside I only remember there being 4 tops and 2 tops.   Atlantide would be my other suggestion for such a large party. They can probably put some tables next to each other.

And I also 2nd the Dolce Vita suggestion for drinks.  They have lots of couches and chairs. I  sailed Muse back in August. Had a great time🙂 and hope you will too.

Boarding? You need to check when the times comes closer. During these Covid times they requested guests to board starting at 2:00pm.  Not sure what they will do this year. They sent out emails about boarding and not sure what they are doing now.

Hi JWH.  Will you be jet lagged when you board?  That might make a difference (or maybe not?)

The usual procedure is that there is the safety drill when everyone is on board followed by a a pool deck "Taste of Things to Come" with the dog & pony show of the entertainers, casino & gift shop & spa managers etc & one or two upbeat songs from the singers.  The first night is always casual dress.

If you are sailing out from a very scenic port at 7, you might want to , as others have suggested, book  the Grill or go to the pizza joint which both have great views, as does  La Terrazza from the outside deck.   If you decide on LT, you might have your travel agent contact them to see if a number of outside tables can be secured for you.  If I remember correctly, the outside area for LT, doesn't have as many as the Shadow & Whisper though.

I think there is a place on the on-line check in that has a place for the names/cabin # of the people you are traveling with.  If you let the poohbahs at each of the restaurants know you want to be seated close to each other rather than at a big table, there should be no problem accommodating you but you may need to be flexible on times.  Keep us posted along the way.  Maybe some of us will be envious.

No, not likely jetlagged but most likely hyped with excitement to be back on a ship again!  Thanks to you and everyone else for your suggestions.  I do like the idea of a 'dog and pony' 🙂 show around the pool.   Sounds like this could be fun for us seeing it for the first time but I imagine would get a bit old for the regulars.  Can't wait.

I love your attitude, jwh. As a matter of fact, I did enjoy the first one ... but since then my enthusiasm has faded. I can guarantee it will include the Silver Singers doing "Dancin' in the Streets"   😂

Amen! There’s unpacking to be done along with cocktail and dinner prep. 😁

I'm certain I'll agree with you on our second cruise but for the first one, we need to see what Silversea has to offer.  Crystal used to call something similar 'a taste of what's to come' 🙂  but it was done in the main show lounge rather than around the pool.  For some reason the pool area sounds a bit more fun and festive.  Oh, and I promise we won't be missing any cocktail opportunities in the process!

Yes, it is more fun and festive around the pool! And waiters circulate with cocktails throughout the event. Win Win!
