NWT Cruiser Posted March 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2022 Heard on the news this morning that New Zealand is finally opening its borders to tourists. Beginning April 12, vaccinated travellers from Australia can enter NZ and vaccinated tourists from countries that don't need a visa, including U.S., will now be able to enter beginning May 1st. This should make a lot of travellers happy. I just cancelled my NZ and South Pacific cruises a couple weeks ago, cause I had no idea on when the "down under" countries were going to start accepting tourists. Will start looking at different itineraries and cruiselines that sail that way ... would love to get a taste of New Zealand. Cheers, Frances (NWT Cruiser)

I didn't do it as a cruise; I cycled New Zealand for 3 weeks. It is probably the nicest scenery I have seen on all of my travels. (But there are still beautiful places that I haven't been to, I'm sure.)
Rare onlyslightlymad Posted March 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2022 Although the borders are opening for vaccinated tourists arriving by aeroplane, there is no change yet to the maritime borders.
WESTEAST Posted March 18, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2022 We cruised Sydney to New Zealand in February 2020 onboard Oceania's Regatta ship and thankfully arrived home just before Covid. We loved this cruise and departed from Sydney (after a few days) to Melbourne and Tasmania (loved) then crossed the Tasman Sea to cruise the Milford Sound fjords (stunning) to Dunedin, Akaroa (stunning), Wellington, Napier (loved), Gisborne and Auckland. Fabulous scenery with many parts reminding us of Canada's west!
boone2 Posted March 18, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2022 We have a transpacific cruise booked for September ending in NZ. We booked it over a year ago thinking countries would be open by the time we cruise. Now we are anxiously waiting to see if cruising will return to NZ but haven’t see anything to say it’s a go yet. Final payment is at the end of may so we have some time and we’ll see how it’s looking then
