  1. You can transfer within 30 days, I believe.
  2. If you plan to rent a car you have to be certain that the ship isn’t going to move during the day. Also, unlike ocean cruising, river cruise port times are much more fluid, because they are subject to things like traffic at locks. Personally, if I were going to do that kind of exploring for your family roots, I would do it pre- or post-cruise.
  3. This quote from the website is why I don’t wish to travel with GCT. It turned me off completely the first time I saw it. American travelers We cater exclusively to American travelers: English is the only language used during tours and presentations, and your trip is tailored to an American perspective, from experiences to accommodations to dining—which include regional specialties. I’m fine with English language, but I like to have the perspectives of people from other English speaking countries, including the Brits, the Aussies, and my own Canadians. I don’t want a trip tailored to an American perspective.

    Trivia

No, I haven’t. This will be only my second Ocean cruise.

Thanks to all of you who are telling me not to worry, just to come try it out. So I will.

    Trivia

Can anyone give me some idea of the questions? I don’t want to show up and make a fool of myself.
  7. I don't really need it, but they let me book it, knowing that if someone needs an accessible cabin I would have to move. I doubt it will happen now, but who knows. (There are elements of an accessible bathroom that will be helpful for me however.)
  8. For what its worth, you'll be near me.
  9. I'd like to just point out that the size of the ship in Europe is limited by the size of the locks. There is no such restriction in SouthEast Asia. That doesn't mean that Viking couldn't have larger cabins on European ships, but that to do so would by necessity reduce the number of passengers carried.
  10. https://www.cmport.com/terminals/ships-in-port/ Arrival is May 29th, not 27th. Quay is C333 which is Oceankaj
  11. I really meant to say some cabins on some cruises. Actual single cabins are still not very common.
  12. Basically everyone except Viking has some single cabins on some cruises at no or less than 100% single supplement. On most lines the standard single supplement for most cabins except for suites is 50%.
  13. When I did it I was on a walking tour of the Abbey (with walks.com). At the end, I walked over to the entrance to the galleries right in the Abbey, paid my £5 and went up to the galleries. But it was pre-Covid so I don’t know what might have changed.
  14. I think so. Once you come back down into the main Abbey you are free to wander. You might consider booking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries first, and then spend time in the Abbey.
  15. This was the wording of the 7-day stability rider of the TuGo policy that I had last year. I added the 7-day stability rider to an annual TuGo policy.
  16. At Westminster Abbey, new (I believe) since 2017, The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries, for which there is an additional £5 charge. I was there in 2019 and found it fascinating. I think I spent at least 45 minutes up there. https://www.westminster-abbey.org/visit-us/plan-your-visit/the-queen-s-diamond-jubilee-galleries
  17. I just checked my documentation. The limit was the same as the base policy; $10,000,000. Here is the actual policy provision (sorry for the messy layout - I didn't want to play with it): Unstable Pre-existing Medical Condition Coverage This Optional Coverage can be purchased as an endorsement to an Emergency Medical Insurance Worldwide or Worldwide Excluding USA plan. Benefits Maximum limit − Up to the Policy limit This coverage does not increase the maximum limits of the Emergency Medical Insurance plan stated in the Policy. When this Optional Coverage is purchased, we will pay for the reasonable and customary charges for medical and related expenses up to the coverage limit for an acute, sudden and unexpected emergency medical condition incurred as a result of your pre-existing medical conditions that were not stable and existed on or before the date of departure. The charges must result from an emergency that first occurs after coverage commences (including after any applicable waiting period) and while you are travelling outside your province/territory of residence. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions specified in the section entitled Emergency Medical Insurance, except for the wording under the sub-heading Pre-existing Medical Condition Stability Exclusion and is also subject to the exclusion described below. Exclusion In addition to the Emergency Medical Insurance exclusions and to the General Exclusions shown on page 47, we will not be liable to provide coverage or services, or to pay claims for expenses incurred directly or indirectly as a result of: Any medical condition which is not stable on or within the 7 days before the date of departure.
  18. Thanks for the clarification.
  19. I was just on vy.no before my last post and I put in a date and was told it was more than 60 days before departure.
  20. You really need to look at the information on the Northern Europe forum. Not all seats are offered to Noway’s Best which is the only one currently selling tickets. Tickets on vy.no only go on sale 60 days before departure.
  21. Norway is discussed in the Northern Europe & Baltic Sea Forum. There is lots of information about buying tickets on the Flåm Railway. Just note that it is a train, not a road trip, and, if you wish to get back to your ship, you also need to book a ticket from Myrdal to Flåm unless you plan to cycle or zipline/cycle back down.
  22. I have used them, with a 7 day stability rider. However, no claim so I can’t help there.
  23. I thought the letters shown on the diagram match those on the platform.
