Booked the Sheraton 4 Points for my May 5th cruise.  I am older lady with mobility issues  traveling solo liked the location and restaurants nearby. Will take Skytrain to port.

Is this location okay for me to walk to the mall? Just seemed to make sense traveling because if I stayed downtown would need to cab to hotel, than cab to port. Wanted to keep my budget for hotel at the $200 us level. Have visited Vancouver several times in the past and stayed downtown.

The area is safe, lots of sidewalks so easy to get around by foot.

Lansdowne Shopping Centre is a shopping center trying to find itself you will find some empty units but generally still has lots of stores.  It use to have major department stores.  Today its anchors are more big-box stores like BestBuy, Winners (owned by Marshalls), etc.  Food court has a diverse selection.  The inside still has lot of smaller outlets, many independent with an Asia product offering.   There is a T&T Market upscale Asian market grocery store with very good takeout, and some sitedown space.  You can go in pick a live Crab from the tank and they will cook it up for you on spot.

If your looking for the big multi-national outlets, like Nike etc., those are in Richmond Centre which is a few stops down the line.

About two blocked to the east of the hotel your will find an outdoor shopping complex that has Walmart and a number of stores and restaurants.

---

Another option is The River Rock it is also close to skytrain and more of a Casino vibe.

Maybe, maybe not. Even though the Lansdowne Centre is just "across the street", there is no crossing where the 4 Points. You have to walk a bit to get to a crossing, then it is a long walk across the mall's parking lot to the center itself. I'd ask the hotel if they'd drop you using the airport shuttle.

Good point.  You do have to walk over to the end of street.

Another Hotel that may be a better fit is the Radisson Vancouver Airport.  That is next closer to Aberdeen station and the Aberdeen center.  A smaller shopping complex, however very Asian with some unique shops.

The 4 points is a nicer hotel, but the Radisson Vancouver Airport is a shorter walking distance to the subway (Skytrain) that is a station across the street to expand your options.  $4 on the Skytrain will have you downtown in 20 minutes.

With regards to malls...

  • Lansdowne is a more tradition Western mall with Best Buy as an anchor
  • Aberdeen is an ethnic mall featuring Far East shops and eateries
  • the airport MacArthurGlen outlet mall is a better choice for fashion
  • a day trip to Metrotown is the biggest Western Mall in the region

checked out the Radisson, need to book a 2 night minimum. If the shuttle wont take me, google maps

show a public bus stop. Dont know if Vancouver has Uber or Lyft. I really dont mind a walk on flat ground, can always sit on my walker to rest, when I do this,  being an old lady, lots of people stop and ask if I need help😁

Richmond is totally flat for both hotels as they are built on a river delta.  Use Google Maps to calculate walking distance and time.

Yes Vancouver offers Uber and Lyft in recent years, as well as taxi service.

If you enjoy walking.... the Radisson is much more walking and transit friendly compared to the Four Points.

I think the Radidson is a better option especially if you have a walker.

Weird they have a two night minimum that is not normal for hotels in Canada.

I am now officially stupid. Had a booking at the Sheraton for $200 USD. Looking for a cheaper rate browsed "priceline" Saw 3 star pricing for $110USD. Listed 3 hotels with pay now not changeble and no cancellation. Priceline chooses for you after payment. STUPID me I pay and end up in Surrey LOL!!!

Never read the location Assumed LOL! Richmond or Burnham. Oh well I will use Metro and Lyft to Canada Place on Thursday. Metro and maybe bus from YVR to Comfort Suites on Wednesday.
