Rough Seas Northern Europe in May

I am prone to some motion sickness when things are noticeably rocky (my last Carribean cruise when we were traveling from Florida to the Bahamas and going in a very small yatch) but overall do well on cruise ships. Talking with my doctor about possible medications for an up-coming cruise. I know weather of course changes, but typically, how rough can I expect the North Sea/Baltic Sea in May? We travel from Amsterdam--> Copenhagen-->Helsinki-->Stockholm-->Tallin-->Kiel-->Amsterdam. I'm thinking the Amsterdam --> Copenhagen portion might be the most turbulent but I'd love some insight. Anti-nausea meds work well for me, but can make me pretty sleepy, trying to balance out feeling tired or feeling sick on my much anticipated vacation!

Not sure about North Sea, but on Baltic Sea May has been one of the calmer months, Finnish Meteorological Institute's statistics tell that on Finnish waters during time period of 2006-2021 there has been on average 0.6 stormy days in May and on many years there hasn't been any. And the definition of stormy day here is that at least one of the weather stations report winds stronger than 21 m/s.

As said in previous post- no major risk of rough seas in May - correct that the greatest risk is between Amsterdam and Copenhagen.  Do you know if you are sailing through the Kiel Canal both ways? I assume you are navigating the Kiel Canal from Kiel to Amsterdam.
If you sail north of the peninsula Jutland from Amsterdam towards Copenhagen, there is the greatest risk of rough seas the night before Copenhagen.

Thank you for the insight. I'll plan to use my medications when we sail north of the peninsula, and then maybe between the calmer waters and gaining my sea-legs I'll be able to manage with seabands and ginger.

A little unpredictable, the North Sea and English Channel have been very bad-tempered for the past couple of days.😟

But the dodgy months tend to be Feb/March and October/November. You'd be unlucky to have rough seas in May. 🙂
