Loyalty points

Please could you tell me whether you receive loyalty points if you book a guarantee cabin and whether you can take advantage of the 10% quarterly savings

On the occasions that we booked a guarantee we did get loyalty points but only for the grade we booked. E.g. If you book an outside guarantee but are lucky enough to be upgraded to a  balcony only will only get the points per night for the outside grade  (3 ?) not the 5 points for a balcony.  I believe the same applies to the bidding system for an upgrade, you only get what you originally paid for not what you end up in.
