gdwest Posted April 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2022 As policies can change daily regarding cancellations, hoping to get some insight to relay to couple who has no choice but to cancel their May 2022 Alaska booking. Our friends booked their cruise in June 2020; however, due to a family situation and health issues they cannot sail. With the CWC having come to an end, is there any recourse to getting a refund to their credit card for the deposits in lieu of a cruise credit? Both passengers are in their seventies and on a fixed budget. Am I correct that at this time, at the best, there would be a $100 each fee for cancelling with the remaining $150 each going toward a future cruise (without a set date for use)? Only the deposit has been paid at this time with final pay due next week. Thanks so much for any insight.
MommaBear55 Posted April 9, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2022 They may still be eligible for CWC, depending on when they booked. That wouldn't give them a refund, though, maybe if they were really sweet and just stressed how they don't think they will ever cruise again, they might get lucky and get a refund. easyqueasy Posted April 9, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2022 New protocols were just released recently requiring vaccines and testing. Just tell the agent they don’t agree with the protocols.

Your friends are covered under cruise with confidence since yhey booked before March 31, 2022 and they sail before Sept 30, 2022. They can cancel and they will get 100% of their deposit issued as a FCC thst will br valid for 12 months from the date of their sailing. Because try are covered under CWC there are no penalties Since they are over 70 they will be able to transfer their FCC to a friend or relative for them to use if they don't feel they can. lax19 Posted April 10, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2022 My son just cancelled a July 2022 cruise for himself, wife and son. The cruise was paid in full, but since he cancelled prior to final payment, he will get his deposits as a future cruise credit and the rest refunded to original form of payment.
