sippican Posted April 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2022 I know there was a ban on cruise ships carrying more that 250 passengers, along with a stipulation that the ships could only call if they had spent more than 10 days at sea. Friends just booked a large ship drive-by Antarctic sailing with The Falklands on the itinerary. They were told that the rules have been dropped. Can anyone confirm that, or point me to a source of reliable information?
scottjeanne Posted April 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2022 We just returned from the Falkland Islands. We had 68 passengers and no covid. We did not see any other human beings since embarkation on March 2. We had ten days at sea, but we could not go to Port Stanley. We did go to Stromness and Grytviken, but could not go in the church or museum.

scottjeanne Posted April 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2022 We were originally scheduled to stop there but it was changed prior to us leaving Punta Arenas.
SignorinaPinguina Posted April 28, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2022 The latest official government update can be found here: https://www.falklands.gov.fk/covid-19/public-updates/352-06-april-2022-covid-19-update. More info is scheduled to come out on 4 May. They are starting to relax their restrictions, but there is not yet any mention specifically of lifting the large-ship ban, unless I missed it.
