MrRandal Posted April 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2022 Cruise mapper dot com has the Paul Gauguin still in port in Papeete as of today. I check her position on a pretty regular basis, and she hasn't moved since she returned from her 14 day Marquesas/Tuomotus/Society cruise. The ship is supposed to be on a 7 day Society cruise this week. Is Cruise mapper not functioning, or does anyone have any insight as to why the PG has not left port? SWFLAOK Posted April 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2022 Marinetraffic website has the PG at the dock in Papeete with an update no long ago. That website was quite accurate during the shutdown of PG's cruising for Covid. We saw the PG leave for dry dock in Singapore and return, as well as the short trips they made from Papeete to open water and back when they weren't doing any cruises. Yes, cruise mapper has been quite accurate as well. So the question remains why the ship is not cruising her scheduled itinerary this week. During these times, there are a number of possible reasons, but I won't speculate. I'm just disappointed that for some reason she remains in port. Rare AussieBoyTX Posted April 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Ponant says the cruise is cancelled, but I don't know why: https://fr.calameo.com/read/000132423cf461dcaf716?authid=BIZNrwBnxZY5
MrRandal Posted April 27, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted April 27, 2022 I now have reason to believe that it was a private charter that cancelled due to lack of bookings.
Rufus Bruno 2009 Posted April 28, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2022 It was a private charter that was cancelled. The crew was using the week to inventory the ship, complete repairs and do a thorough cleaning.
