FWIW, I had a problem with having my seapass card on an lanyard against my skin... the spray on sunscreen I was using was wiping the lettering off.  I ended up getting 3 new cards before someone at GS keyed me in.  

 

No, I didn't keep it in a pouch, but had a hole punched at GS.  I didn't want to have to take it out of a pouch to open the room door.
