I'm one that LOVES the Medallion!

I have a hate/love relationship with the medallion 🤣 I hated trying to enter all my info into the app months before my cruise. I really  hated it when I finally was able to enter info and it was wiped out with a software upgrade. The night before the cruise, I was able to access the Medallion App and complete my dinner reservations. The morning of boarding, the Medallion went haywire again.

Once on the ship, the Medallion was absolutely marvelous. Or, I should say, the crew never let on when anything wasn't functioning. Crew members who had never seen us, greeted us by name. By the time we ordered our third drinks, crew members knew our drink orders before we even sat down. If the Medallion was glitchy, they took our cabin numbers and it all worked out. One afternoon, I ordered a drink at the pool, went to our cabin to see what was keeping my husband,  and the drink followed me.

I'm not a Princess cheerleader. It's not my first choice of cruise lines, but I want to assure those who are struggling, pre-cruise, with the Medallion App that once on board, the Medallion App will make their cruise more enjoyable.

Used the Medallion app for 6 cruises starting in 2019 with only one minor glitch that sorted itself out a couple of weeks before I cruised.  People are spending way too much time trying to force their info into the app IMO.  If something like the first half of my B2B disappeared I just ignored it for a few weeks and would try one time if it didn't work I put it away.  It eventually fixed itself.   Worst case it gets entered at the pier.

People were trying to enter their dining up to a year before their cruise, choosing their embarkation times months instead of weeks before,  filling out the Health Questionnaire way way in advance of the 24 hours before they embarked. It would be helpful if Princess could add a timeline to their FAQ's would alleviate a lot of stress for people.

I personally love the Medallion and have from the first time I used it, way more positives than negative.  I think I have used all the features except for Crew Chat while onboard.

Other than opening your door, is there anything else you have to use the medallion for? Everything else can be done by phone or going up to a bar and ordering your own drink?

You use your medallion wherever you used a key card. Getting on and off the ship, paying in shops, getting chips in the casino, buying bingo cards, paying at bars etc

My Medallion problem is pretty unique.
We got off a cruise on 2/27/22.  I really liked most of the way that it operated except it had to be replaced twice in two weeks due to dead battery.  Then there was some big huge problem that was such a mess that they ended up sending a bouquet of roses and a box of chocolates to my cabin to apologize.  That was really nice due to the fact I didn’t make a fuss about it.
My current Medallion problem is that somehow when they (shipboard and land people) were trying to fix the big problem they somehow changed my disembarkation day from 2/27/22 to 2/27/27.  I call it the five year cruise. Due to that I am unable to access the two World Cruises we have scheduled during that five years.  They don’t even show on the medallion, although they did previously. The medallion thinks we’re still cruising on the Emerald. Every day I look to see if I’m at sea or in a port.  It shows me where the Emerald currently is. This just does not seem like a hard problem.  To me, all they have to do is change the disembarkation date or delete the cruise.  I’ve been asking for help for weeks.  It is really frustrating that I can’t access anything on these cruises.

It is an interesting issue. We were on the Grand in October. Internet wasn't as good as pre covid but very ok. Medallion worked ok. In December we were on Enchanted and I have no issues with anything. All worked fine. In April were were on the Ruby and If it worked on my app, it didn't on my wife's and vice versa. So finding each other was not an option unless you restarted.  And the timeline would only spin in a circle. Internet was only able to download words like in an email. Couldn't load a picture unless you waited several minutes. They did tell us and it would usually help: close the app and re-sign in. It would then do the one thing before it was hit or miss. We did have an unexpected dining time change as the app suddenly changed our time by 30 minutes. The Medallion itself worked fine. Finicky app or not, I was just thrilled to be cruising again!
