Making cruise planner purchases with a gift card

Is it possible to pay for cruise planner purchases with a gift card and if so how?  When I went to my planner the only option for payment was a credit card with number, security code, and expiration date.  It looks like the gift card will not have an expiration date.  Am I missing something?

Likely won't work onboard at Guest Services, either.  They want cards tied to a person.

The gift card should have fine print listed on it or a website for information.  Many gift cards can only be used for booking reservations.
