cruiseesl Posted May 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) I have been to Corfu before but not for many years. The ship excursions are not calling my name. The port stop is officially 7am to 3pm. If I could organize my own tour (or go w a small group) I'd go to Paleokastritsa again for views and definitely to see the monastery, perhaps Lakonas (never been there but it sounds like nice views or a place to browse around)), and end with a couple of hours on my own to stroll around Corfu town, before heading back to the ship.Seeing Achilleon Palace again might be nice, but not essential. Any suggestions for reliable guides/tours? Edited May 11, 2022 by cruiseesl

Can't help with a guide, but Achilleion Palace is closed right now for restoration; no date for reopening is given on the website: HOME - Αχίλλειο Ανάκτορο (achillion-corfu.gr)

Thanks.
iancal Posted May 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2022 We spent a week on Corfu just prior to covid. Our recommendation would be to avoid touring Corfu Town in the morning if there are several cruise ships in port. Do that at the end of your day. We drove into town in the morning. Stayed for 10 minutes and left. Far too crowded. It was a zoo. We went back on another day, in mid-late afternoon. It was much better. We waited all of five minutes to get into the fort/castle. 1
