gwilli Posted May 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2022 Has anyone recently been to the Postojna Caves that could tell me how wet and cold it is now. We can’t decide to do it or not. TIA
lenoirm Posted May 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2022 Done it in May precovid. It was humid (70/80%) and cool ( 50 F/10C) but not that bad! I would recommend sneakers, jeans, light sweater or sweatshirt and a wind breaker. Don’t miss it, it is a beautiful cave . The train ride is fun .
TERRIER1 Posted May 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I haven't been there for several years put I don't believe things would have changed much. You need a jacket since the temperature inside the the cave is about 50 degrees F. The walls and floor of the cave are wet. They have skid resistant floor mats on the floor. We really enjoyed the tour which was a private tour. I can't remember if we booked through Viator but another couple was also on the tour.
Kitekat Posted May 23, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2022 We were there in October last year. Most of our group had a fleece or light jacket. One hardy individual was happy without but our guide was most concerned. The coldest bit is the train to get you to the start of the walk. These are really beautiful caves and well worth visiting. We thought it quite busy, but we were told that before covid it was almost impossible to move, so go now!
