Railroad excursions

We're booked on a 7 day inside passage cruise from Vancouver to Seward.  Does anyone have suggestions for railroad excursions during our voyage?

Is Skagway one of your ports?  If so consider the historic White Pass & Yukon Railroad.

 

Are you starting or ending in Seward?  Consider the Alaska Railroad from between Seward and Anchorage.  It is extremely scenic and very popular.

SEWARD

Your ship arrives before 7 am and there maybe a Cruise Line chartered Alaska Railroad

train to the Anchorage Airport - - -

-OR-

Take a local Seward excursion and wait for the scheduled Alaska RR Coastal Classic

train leaving Seward 6pm and arriving at the Anchorage Depot around 10pm - - -

Red Eye flight home - stay a day or two in Anchorage - - -

Extend your railroad adventure take the Alaska RR Denali train to Fairbanks (a 12 hour

daylight trip) - Red Eye flight home from there or hotel stay and fly the next day or

take the train back to Anchorage.

 

HINT if you can afford it get reservations in the full length GOLD STAR class dome car

for best viewing with meals and complimentary beverages.
