cjpj Posted May 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2022 If you book your airfare and hotel is princess insurance valid for that portion of the trip too, or just when you are on the ship?
suekel Posted May 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2022 It would only cover air and hotel if you book thru EZ Air and stay in a Princess hotel. I book my own flights about half the time and always take out insurance thru the airline.
NavyVeteran Posted May 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Princess Vacation Protection provides some coverage when traveling even if you do not purchase EZAir or a Princess hotel. The following information is from Term of Coverage in the PVPDETAIL.PDF file describing Princess Vacation Protection: "When Coverage Begins: All coverages will take effect on the later of: 1) the date the plan payment has been received by Princess Cruises and/or Princess Tours; 2) the date and time you start your Covered Cruise Vacation; or 3) 12:01 A.M. Standard Time on the Scheduled Departure Date of your Covered Cruise Vacation." "When Coverage Ends: Your coverage automatically ends on the earlier of: 1) the date the Covered Cruise Vacation is completed; 2) the Scheduled Return Date; 3) your arrival at the return destination on a round-trip, or the destination on a one-way trip; 4) cancellation of the Cruise Vacation covered by the Plan. If your air arrangements are greater than 4 total days before and/or after your Cruise Vacation, you will also be covered for Trip Delay and benefits under Parts B and C on the day(s) you are flying to/from your destination." Note that it does not cover non-reimbursable expenses not purchased through Princess. However, it does cover trip delay and medical costs during the coverage period stated before and after the cruise. One example (pre-COVID): We returned from a Princess cruise round-trip Houston after an ice storm. We was able to fly from Houston to Dallas Love Field with no problems (DFW was having problems with the ice storm, but our flight to DAL was OK). However, after returning to DAL and picking up my car at the airport, we were not able to drive home (less than a hundred miles) - the highways were closed because of the ice storm. We stayed in an airport hotel one night and drove home the next day. Princess Vacation Protection paid for the hotel and for meals for the one-day delay in getting home caused by the ice storm.
calimn Posted May 25, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Just confirming we also got paid for the 3 day delay when flight got canceled in FLL in March on the way back home, and next available flight was 3 days later!. Took a few months to get confirmed but we were told it is on its way this week. So if you get delayed keep your receipts! This was the Princess insurance. 2
