Two AmaWaterways Questions

We take our first river cruise this summer on AMA Magna.  The new app will not let me link my cruise until 3 weeks out.  Is there anyway to reserve ship excursions before that?

Also, does AMA allow passengers to carry liquor on board for consumption in their rooms, ala Oceania?  Thanks for any info.

Booking ship excursions on AMA are rather relaxed. While you can book ahead of time, normally it is not too difficult to change your mind at the last minute on the day of the tour.

Alcohol in your room is never a problem. But the bar is much more fun!

Seconding @montyjam on drinks in your room.

AMA includes "complimentary, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks during lunch and dinner, as well as sparkling wine and fresh-squeezed juices during breakfast." [from their website]  Based on our experience, they are happy to top up your glass as you leave the dining room after lunch or dinner [that makes the first drink in the bar free!]

If you don't like the included wine, they have no problem with you bringing your own wine into the dining room [after all, you won't be drinking their free wine, so why not?']

There's also a happy hour every day in the bar, with free drinks.

So AMA isn't 'all inclusive,' but it's pretty close.

Although AMA does include wine and beer at meals, the only spirits included were at happy hour.

Our personal experience with the spirits on board the AMASiena were that the liquor selection was small and lacking in quality.

If you are a bourbon or scotch drinker or you like "full proof" liquor you might want to bring your own on board.

Have a great cruise!
