I posted this question in the stockholder thread and I guess it got buried, so trying again.

Can someone clarify what the shareholder obc can be used for? I'm assuming not gratuities and not casino. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

You should have this PDF available in your shareholder documentation, but I found it with a quick Google search (it was the first result when I searched for 'ncl shareholder benefit').  It seems it's non-refundable so it would carry the restrictions associated with that, some of which are spelled out in the document.

Thank you. I'm still confused on what it can be used for. Will it cover any upcharges at a bar or in a restaurant? Can I use it in the casino for gambling? Can I apply it to upgrading our internet plan? What about the spa? Interested in the experiences of others. Thanks!!

Here are a couple previous threads and a pre-filled search of this forum in case you want more info..

thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I've been on these forums for over 16 years so I'm familiar with searching. I see the key word you used is "refundable". I have no idea if stockholder credit is refundable or non-refundable so it wouldn't have occurred to me to use that keyword. I  am used to CCL on Princess so I'm not familiar with NCLH on Norwegian. I do not own the stock, thinking of buying on the dip for our upcoming cruise. So I still have the same questions. "Will it cover any upcharges at a bar or in a restaurant? Can I use it in the casino for gambling? Can I apply it to upgrading our internet plan? What about the spa?"

Someone in the first thread I linked indicated it could be used to upgrade the beverage plan, I would think the internet plan would also qualify if the beverage plan does.

This was also mentioned in the first thread I linked.

If you read the document I linked, it mentions that it is not redeemable for cash, this is in section 7.  It also says in that section that unused credit is forfeited, meaning it would be 'non-refundable'.  Yes, you need to read the entire document to find this info.

Some of the exclusions (some also mentioned in that document) for using non-refundable are the DSC (discretionary service charge, or daily gratuity) and CruiseNext purchases.  The CruiseNext is an odd one as the OBC you get credited for the purchase is non-refundable but THAT credit is allowed to be used to offset the cost of the CND.

How did you actually get the credit? I emailed them the forms 4 weeks ago and 1 week ago as a follow up for a cruise now 25 days out. I have yet to get any replies other than the auto-responder and no credit on my account in the system. Given 100 shares has lost $1,000 in value in the last 2 months really wanting that $100 back 🙂

Keep track of the emails you sent, and the case numbers you get on the auto-responder.

Sometimes they will respond to say they've added the credit.  Sometimes you'll actually see the credit on your booking.  Sometimes neither happens.

Whether or not you get a response, and even if it shows on your booking, you'll likely have to chase it up again once onboard the ship.  Wait a day or two from the cruise start. if it's not showing up in your onboard account on the app after that time, got to Guest Services and they'll ask you email them what you sent to Shareholder, and/or the case number, so they can check with Miami, it'll then get sorted in a day or two. We've had to do this onboard for six out of eight cruises this year, part of the early cruise ritual now.

The OBC appears on your ncl.com vacation summary. If it's not there, forward the email you got with the case number right away and ask for it again. Include your brokerage statement with account number and anything else you feel needs to be redacted except your name and the NCLH shares. Their requested lead time is 15 days. My experience has been they respond in a hours to a few days.

Ohh wow, noted if you are seeing it within a few days to few hours I'm certainly on the opposite end of the spectrum. I guess I'll send it 1 or 2 additional rounds before the cruise and if that fails do the guest services approach mentioned above. Seems like NCL just making more work for themselves lol.

I'm with you this time around.  I have now sent 2X for my August cruise.  In the past, I have received it almost immediately.  Didn't know if there is now a time limit on how far in advance it can be sent in?  Like the 21 day limitation on starting check-in.....
