laurelguy Posted June 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) Hi Ponant lovers and those curious. We've sailed with them a few times now and thoroughly delighted. Post Covid has been challenging for all lines, but we had a fantastic time in France and Italy in May on Le Bougianville. We booked ANTARCTICA for December 26 but told there is a "partial charter"...all cabins are sold the rep said, but would not tell us who the charter company is. We don't want to feel left out etc. so are concerned. Anyone have experience with this? And specifically with Antarctica? Big thanks! Rare gogo65 Posted June 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2022 Assume it will be and A&K charter, they seem to do partial charters. Although when we did Antarctica there was a Japanese group of approx 30 people not sure it was a charter but they did not impact our holiday at all. laurelguy Posted June 24, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Appreciate gogo65...This is more than a partial...this group has most cabins we're told...we've just never cruised this way...hard to know...it's not A and K because I looked at their departures... As does Backroads, including on Ponant ships in Antartica: https://www.backroads.com/trips/MAAS/antarctica-cruise-multi-adventure-tour We did a Backroads tour of Iceland on Le Champlain in 2019. Rare Catlover54 Posted July 7, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2022 Is it correct that for Antarctica on Ponant, the flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuia and return allow only 20kg of luggage per person, counting carryon?
richandi Posted July 7, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2022 We were on le lyrial in November of 21. It was the first ship down there and we went to so. Georgia also. We only had 92 passengers so it was fabulous and we got to spend extra time on the ice and in the zodiacs. They never even bothered to weigh or look at our luggage on the charter! shaving said that, I’d keep it near 23 kg or so. Have fun!
