MARELLA DISCOVERY 12TH January 2023

Recommended Posts

Just changed our holiday in Sri Lanka, looking forward to going back to the Caribbean. Last time we were bobbing about on Discovery 2 in March 2020 and no one would let us dock. Got home just as lockdown started.

Hopefully this time no dramas lol

Are you doing back-to-back? Trying this for the first time [will give us a chance to spend a whole day in Barbados]

Suggest you go for the speciality restaurants on changeover night it's a lot calmer, and sometimes a little discounted. For a good easy beach from the terminal try Harbour Lights, 15 min mini bus ride and they serve great flying fish. 🤗

Am I correct in there being no set dining times/table number[s] on Marella ships?

Yes you are correct it's been many years since they had early/late sitting with allocated tables, think the last ship was Destiny we found it worked well, perhaps not always 🙄

Depends what restaurant you are in.  The speciality restaurants need to be booked so you will have a set dining time.  The MDRs is turn up and if there's a table free you're in, if not they give you a buzzer so you can go get a drink while you wait for it to buzz.  The Buffet is the buffet.

Hi PC.

Hope yourself and mrs PC are both keeping well.

In the past we have shared tables and had some great evenings, We have also ended up sharing with people who could curdle milk by looking at it. There does seem to be more tables for two guests these days which seems a better option as they are close enough to the next table so you can still converse if you or they want to,

When it was allocated tables you were sort of stuck with the company ( good or bad) for the duration.

Keep well.😉

Hi BJ yes we like yourselves have met some nice couples at alocated tables probably the most famous was David Bryant and his wife Ruth, we did a further couple of cruises with them before David had to pack it in.

Bit low, health wise, at the moment with the virus which prevented us doing our normal Silverstone F1 thing😩 and I did not have insurance to cover it😢

Hope you and yours are OK.
