But I think tips are split up by area. Casino gets different pool of tips than dining, etc. Nope, we asked that too. It’s split between allllllll customer-facing employees (ie: people who COULD be tipped)

Because the casino people I’ve talked to said they share in the casino tips. Which is different from the casino bar. And that’s why they like working on Carnival ships. Now, maybe what they do is have different levels of tips for different areas. Because clearly, the skill level to do certain roles is different on the ship. Hard to imagine each person gets an exact same share of the tips.

From what we gathered from the employees; ALL guest facing carnival employees basically get paid around the same amount (obviously like a “manager” is going to get paid more..but the person serving your drink is getting paid the same as the person dealing your cards, and the same as the person making up your stateroom…this makes it easy as no one is “fighting” for one specific job)

Bernardo62 Posted July 11, 2022 #55 Share Posted July 11, 2022 A lot of "ASSUMPTIONS" are made. Guess that what the Carnival go around.

If I was an alchemy bartender, I’d be wondering why, after the specific training I went through, I’m paid as much as someone who basically buses tables. There would be no incentive to train for a different role.

justafem Posted July 12, 2022 #61 Share Posted July 12, 2022 I had free drinks in the casino June 10 2022 and will have the same on our Sept 5 2022 cruise. Before cruising, I pick up a bundle of 100 $1 bills. Every drink gets a buck. I was talking to the casino host for quite a while. She broke it down like this. 1000 points gets you free drinks in the casino, 6000 points get you a comped dinner at a specialty. 7500 points in a year gets you to the lowest 'elite' level, points are cumulative (you can earn 2500 points per cruise for 3 cruises). There are several levels of 'elite' casino comps. A hand pay gets you a hat and a tee-shirt or any other casino branded swag. And that was pretty much all the information I got from her before she was called somewhere else. From what I'm understanding, anyone who gambles a bit will get a casino offer. Not necessarily the same offer every time. If they don't see you on a cruise in a while, the deals get better. Currently I get free balconies, up from my June cruise, where it was an inside. I'm perfectly happy with an inside, actually prefer them for Alaska. Now to figure out how to get myself to Rome for that offer!
