European cruise-not boosted- anyone experienced?

Looking into a Barcelona cruise and was curious about being non boosted. Looks like the only port we’d have to test to enter is for France. Has anyone experienced this? Says it’s $55? How does it work do we do it at the port? The night before? Etc

 

Also I read somewhere about non boosted folks needing an antigen test one day before disembarking. Not sure why as US isn’t requiring testing to fly anymore. Apparently another $55? 
 

Anyone dealt with?

We were just on a Mediterranean cruise on the Wonder of the Seas in May.  You were required to have your last vaccine/booster within 270 days of sailing.  The Royal Caribbean website shows requirements based upon embarkation ports -- you may want to check there.

No, RCI only recommends the booster but does not require it. Anyway Spain does require the booster for entering the country if your second shot is older than 270 days. Plus you need to fill in the online health form.

 

France does require a test which is either done onboard or in the terminal and it´s 55 USD. As you are not regarded as "up to date" when your last shot is older than 270 days you might need another test returning to Spain. It´s not for the flight to the US.

To be considered up to date by all European countries we sail to, your vaccination must meet both of the following requirements.

 

1. You received your final dose in your original vaccine series (or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson) no more than 9 months (270 days) ago, or a booster dose. Guests that have received a booster dose will qualify regardless of the amount of time that has passed since receiving their booster. Children who have received one dose (unless Johnson & Johnson) do not count as fully vaccinated.

    

2. Your most recent vaccine dose is on this list of EMA-approved vaccines:

• Pfizer
• Moderna
• Johnson & Johnson
• AstraZeneca
• Nuvaxovid

You missed out the sentence prior to your quote:

 

For the best European cruise experience, we strongly recommend guests be “up to date” on their COVID-19 vaccination per the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

 

So you can cruise with being "fully vaccinated" but not "up to date" (boostered). But you might face extra costs due to extra tests.
