Alex_77 Posted July 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2022 When we first planned our upcoming Boston-Quebec cruise I was thinking that we would hire a car to Louisborg at this cruise stop. (We have previously stayed in Nova Scotia and seen Baddeck and Cape Breton.) However I can’t find a rental car for the day.- a situation I understand. Are we likely to find local company excursions at the port on the day, or any recommendations to contact in advance. Otherwise I think I need to book the cruise coach trip. MJC Posted August 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2022 I am interested in your question too, and hope someone responds now that we're getting close to the season for these cruises.
gubby Posted August 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Sorry I know nothing about car rental. However, if available, book the ship's tour. This is a tour that is SO worthwhile, and it would be a shame to miss it. I seldom give any government credit, but did write an actual letter to Tourism Canada for spending some of my tax dollars on this site. There is so much to do and see and learn here. Be sure to dress warmly as the wind can be wicked.
Alex_77 Posted August 12, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted August 12, 2022 Thanks all. Before I hit my personal deadline to ensure we had an excursion booked I rechecked car hire and was able to book for a day with Enterprise - though we may need a taxi to get to the office (40-50 mins walk away!) so we will go to the fort independently - and can take it at our own pace.. MJC Posted August 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2022 We don't want an all-day excursion on a bus, so I have a question in to this company to see if they will just take us to Louisbourg and back: https://sydneycapebretontaxitours.ca/over-6hr-tours I'll come back to post what I've learned. There used to be a local bus that went to Louisborg. There are some local tours and private guides that do tours. I would definitely arrange something in advance. Rare 1kaper Posted September 7, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 7, 2022 I was able to book a car rental last week for this week so I would check availability again. I was looking for something else yesterday and saw this. I have not taken a tour with them but another option https://www.cabotdiscoverytours.com/
