Are there still problems with civil unrest on the French side?

We love Orient Beach but Princess doesn’t seem to have any excursions there any more. Are they still having problems on the french side with protests and unrest? Will it be safe and easy to grab a taxi there and back?

I never take a Princess(ship sponsored) tour to Orient. Pick a taxi up right off the pier, never a problem getting taxi's in either direction. Btw knew nothing about "protests and unrest" on the French side of the island. I much prefer the French side for alot of reasons but mainly because Orient is such a nice beach.

There is no current "unrest" which would interfere with your ability to get a taxi to and from Orient (or other french-side places) without any problem.  Could something come up on the day you are in port?  Yes, it is possible.  The odds of a cruise ship tourist being affected by "unrest" on any particular port of call day is very very small.
