NCL Jewel Alaska – Any recent cruisers?

Hi all, have some questions about an upcoming southbound sail on the Jewel if anyone could answer. Much appreciated!!

·         I’ve read that sailing is at half capacity, is anything on the ship not open?

·         Any recent upgrade bids that were accepted?

·         How was the entertainment? Anything worth seeing/skipping?

·         Looking at doing Le Bistro and Teppanyaki, are they worth it?

·         Can we bring on bottled water bought at ports? We have the deluxe bev package but drink a lot of water

·         We embark in Seward, are we still able to get back off the ship after we check in/before we sail? What time do we have to be back on board?

·         What's the earliest we can debark in Vancouver?

Any other tips or comments?

Yes to water at the ports as long as it isn’t a case.

Yes to getting off in Seward as long as you are back on board before sailing which is normally 30 minutes before.

LeBistro is wonderful, highly recommend and Teppanyaki is just OK in our minds, it’s fun if you have a fun and active table or you’re with a group but we’ve done it with less than enthused diners and it sucked, it’s more about the entertainment then the high quality of food.

We were on the southbound Jewel sailing July 4th. I usually pre-purchase one of the bottled water packages thru NCL, your cabin steward will deliver it to your stateroom on the day you sail if you wish.

We went to the "Velvet" show in the theater, not at all impressed. Did really enjoy other entertainment in the bars/lounges though, our favs were "Glitz Duo" and Melvin on the guitar, outstanding! They were in the Magnums lounge, Bliss lounge and Atrium areas for the most part.

Le Bistro was very good, didn't go to Teppanyaki. Cagney's was pretty good as was La Cucina. We also enjoyed the MD as well as the buffet.  Don't know about upgrade bids, didn't do that. OP answered the Seward question.  Ship docks in Vancouver at 7:00am, you can begin disembark process as soon as the ship is cleared by customs and port authority.

The ship guest capacity for our cruise was approx. 1030 guests according to crew members. So, 40%ish. Was great!  Alaska from the cruise ship vantage is beautiful, very unique! The evening sailaway from Seward is gorgeous. At least if was for us. We had clear skies, soft seas and a superb sunset. The massive glaciers are incredible. The Inside Passage is stunning.

Enjoy your crusie!

Alaska cruise 07/11/2022 My wife and I have cruised 7 times this year (2022) alone with more booked. This was by far a great cruise and the ship and crew were great. But stay away from the casino if you are a slots player. All our past cruises including this one have been comped for our play. We have played on multiple ships from all the major cruise lines. The casino on the Jewel is average size for this class of ship and the staff and dealers were great. However the slots payed nothing. By our third session it was evident they were not paying at all. Over the course of the cruise we did not see or talk with anyone who had any extended play or won any sessions at all. The slot machines are set so low that you just dump money into them. By the third day we reduced our buy-in by sixty percent and by the end of the week we quit playing altogether. THIS IS THE WORST PAYING CASINO WE HAVE EVER PLAYED ON A CRUISE SHIP !!!
