One way taxi from Naples port to Pompeii?

We have a day in Naples and would like to get to Pompeii by 9am, so were planning to take a taxi for a group on 4.  We are less time constrained on returning to Naples, so were going to take the train back.  Will taxis at the port do a one way trip or are they just looking for round trips?  How much should I expect to pay for the one way taxi?

Taxis will definitely do a one way trip, but many will be pretty crowded for 4. Not impossible...but crowded.

Thanks.  Two of the four are kids, which will hopefully make it more feasible.

You will pay the same amount as a round trip, because for the driver it is a round trip.  They are unable to pick up a fare in Pompei so you will pay to get them back to Naples.

 

The fixed fare for a round trip Naples-Pompei with a two hour wait at the ruins is 100 euro.  You won't be paying for the waiting time but I'd still expect to pay between 60 - 70 euro for the one way trip.

Actually I have used a taxi from the ruins to the port because we missed both train and bus 😆 There was a taxi stand with taxis waiting.

If I remember right it was like € 60.
