Can OBC be moved to one guest?

Recommended Posts

I have tried to do this one time, and I wasn't able too with the original OBC that was given. If this was 'extra' OBC that you added, you would be able to assign it to an individual, but for the original assigned, it automatically gets split.

Have one onboard account but he didn't get $500 for being Platinum, he may have gotten it for booking this cruise for the cabin which does mean the other person gets half since they paid half.

Thanks, I think it was a casino offer but we paid for both guests.  Just wanted to see if anyone had been to do at guest services.

Guest Services can't do anything with casino offers.  If it was actually $500 in Free Play for the casino, then it should only go to the person whose name the offer was booked under.

I just tried to do this on our cruise over the 4th of July.  My 18 year old daughter was given half of my OBC and I told guest services there was no way she would be able to use all of it (not old enough to buy drinks etc).  They said transferring the OBC was not possible, but that as long as I put us both on the same "account" (meaning linked to the same credit card) it wouldn't matter.  Even though it would show as separate on our statements (and in the HUB), charges would still be applied to the OBC in the order they were received (regardless which one of us purchased).

I was skeptical, but it was true, I was able to use the majority of the OBC.  Sorry I know that probably won't help in a friend situation because they probably don't want to use the same credit card for on-board expenses.

My son is in a cabin with a friend, he is platinum and earned $500 OBC.  It appears it is being shared between the two of them.  Can guest services move it to just him? Or other suggestions?

I have done it with OBC from early saver, but that was a few years ago.

Carnival stopped doing this (without special hoops) when they offered the $600 OBC for those thousands of cancelled cruises so the original cruisers would get part of the rebooking OBC instead of just one person.  Doesn't affect everyone, like those who travel with a shared account but it allowed those who didn't want to cruise with the same original booking partner to still get the benefit.

Has anyone tried just getting it out of the casino. Like charge your room at a slot machine. Then cash it in?

Yes, it works.  We got on with 1100 OBC and cashed out $600 and left the rest as OBC

Also, as another person mentioned.  Hubby and I were tied together and though it was supposed to be 1/2 his and 1/2 mine it didn't matter.  When either of charged anything, it came out of the OBC regardless.  I don't usually use my card; he uses his for everything most times.

Do need to make sure you understand "what the OBC" is for though.  Some are refundable so if you don't spend it they will just send it to you after the cruise.  Other is use it or lose it.   Some is for the casino only; some can be used for anything.

I have heard on this forum that you can just go to the kiosk machine and get out cash, no fees no muss no fuss. Have not tried however.

That's only if you both were under the same S&S account. It is possible to set up a room so that each adult in the room has a separate S&S account. In that case I believe the two would split the OBC and there's no way to combine it.

It is NOT the Kiosk.  You cannot go pull the money from your account at a Kiosk.  You have to go to the casino.  Sit down load up a few hundred.  Play a few spins then cash out to your bank.  Go to the cage and cash out your account.  We did it the first hour the casino opened.

Correct!  If on the same sail and sign though it shouldn't matter.  If they each have their own account then yes, it is split

I know what you're talking about and have done that. But some on here reported being able to withdraw cash against your S&S at the S&S kiosks. I have not tried so I can't say for sure.
