The walking distance from the tender port to the train is about the same, if not lesser than the aft-railroad dock. There is a ramp that takes you (climb up) from the tender port to the train station. I didn't see any golf carts. If you are on an excursion with Celebrity, they tell you where and when to assemble ( for us it was in the theater) and then you will be escorted to the tender. This concerns me. We have bought the Lumber Jack show and my mom requires a mobility scooter. We've gotten no information from X yet about the change to the disembark situation in this port. Looks like I've got to make a call...

The tendering is in Skagway.

I'm getting myself so confused... But now I realize it's even worse. We're supposed to do a gold panning, sled dogs, and railway excursion. I'd be so much better with canceling the lumber jack than this one. Such a bummer.

I will try to give as much detailed information about the tendering process in Skagway as I can. If I can find someone to ask, I’ll see if they’ve put any plans in place for passengers with mobility issues. I’ll let you know what I find. 2

Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #132 Share Posted August 21, 2022 It has been SO foggy, misty, and chilly all day. I love it! Our cabin is at the very front of the ship and I can hear the ship’s horn sounding once every minute.
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #133 Share Posted August 21, 2022 We had to warm up a little this afternoon with a Café Mocha. Mark tried the apple cake and some kind of pound cake, but he said they were both a bit dry. The mocha was like a slightly more caffeinated hot chocolate though. Yum.
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #134 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Mark is currently napping, apparently worn out from all the relaxing we did today. Tonight is “Chic Night.” Almost as ambiguous a terminology as “Dress Your Best” night that Royal Caribbean likes to use. 2

For tendering in Skagway: the passenger had to be able to walk down, and on return, back up an outside flight of about 10-15 stairs and be able to climb onto and off the tender. The amount of tender movement is dependent on the movement of the seas- it wasnt too bad the day we were there.

She should be able to do the steps and get on the tender with assistance. My concern is she won’t be able to bring her scooter to do the excursion. No way she could do that whole day without it 🙁

Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #141 Share Posted August 21, 2022 We started dinner with the crab cake appetizer and the tomato and watermelon salad. Crab cake was okay. Good flavor, but not a lot of actual crab. The tomato & watermelon was good, but the tomatoes were not really ripe. I liked the feta and onion.

I just returned and I believe mobility scooters were not able to go on the tenders. However, I believe wheelchairs could be. I don’t know if there was a special ship access for them as we had to climb some stairs on the ship. The walkway at the dock was very steep but again I thought I saw a different wheel chair ramp providing easier access to main walkway.
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #143 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Entrees were the Steak Diane and the Leg of Lamb. Both were good.
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #144 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Dessert was chocolate cake with a requested side order of vanilla ice cream. The chocolate cake is rich, but it’s never as sweet as I think it’s going to be. Which is great!!
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #145 Share Posted August 21, 2022 After dinner we headed back to the stateroom for a few minutes and noticed we had Captain’s Club flowers. And we opened up the curtains and we saw the first sunshine we’ve seen all day! Tomorrow is supposed to be great weather in Ketchikan!
tweetylori Posted August 21, 2022 #146 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Last time i has the crab cakes I totally agreed. Plus mixed veggies with a crab cake is just wrong IMHO. Appreciate you showing me it hasn't changed

Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #149 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Docked in Ketchikan at around 6:30 this morning. Just a heads up. You hear every bit of noise from the docking process in our cabin. We are generally awake pretty early, but if you are someone who likes to sleep in, you may want to book something a little closer to mid-ship.
Rare aring75 Posted August 21, 2022 Author #150 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Had THE BEST weather today. High 60s low 70s and beautiful, sunny skies. Of course, all the Alaskans we met said it was “so hot!”
