BENEFITS OF FUN-PASS

In theory, it serves to expedite check-in.

I said "in theory."

But the primary purpose is to assist Carnival in complying with Homeland Security requirements.

Just wondering.....seems that I've seen several posts here that indicate that you CAN fill out the Fun Pass or NOT. I don't think that's the case. Isn't it required now?

I don't know if it's required or not. But when we check in at the Baltimore port last week we asked if they needed our fun pass info and she had no idea what fun pass was. We even showed her the sign that was labeled for fun pass guests and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she never heard of it!!!!!!

I do not see how they can require something that would necessitate an internet connection when, believe it or not, there are still people without online access.

Let's just quit monkeying around with this, embed a chip in everyone and be done with it. icon_razz.gif

I don't know but when we went on the Paradise out of Miami in Feb/04 we went through the fun pass line with maybe 10 people versus about 75-100 in regular line. We were on the ship in about ten minutes from the time we arrived at the port .

The fun pass is similar to airlines allowing you to print your own boarding pass/security document ahead of time. At the airport, it keeps you from having to stand in line at the ticket counter. At the dock, it allows you to go through a separate line. The fun pass line might be longer, as more and more people start completing the fun pass ahead of time, but it should be quicker than being in line with people who have not already given the cruise line all their information.

Well, if it's purpose is to expedite check-in, then it did wonders for us. We barely waited in line at all. We walked right up to the Fun Pass counter, and that was about it. We did more waiting in the little waiting area to actually board the ship than we ever did waiting in any lines.

That was excellent.
