Non refundable OBC

I have On Board Credit and will be travelling with my elderly mother.  We will not be doing excursions because she is nearly blind and doesnt want to sit on a bus all day doing nothing.  Are there any exclusions to what we can spend the credit on ?  Can we use it for gratuities ? If we have to pay a cash deposit will the OBC be used first ?

Yes, essentially anything you charge to your room will first by applied to the OBC (casino, drinks, gratuities, specialty restaurants, etc.).

If you have OBC you shouldn't have to put down a cash deposit. We had $600 and $200 on our last two cruises and didn't put anything down. When they asked about setting up a cash account at the port I just told them we had OBC and they were good with that. Yes you can use it for gratuities. We did that on the cruise where we had $600.

We knew ours was non refundable because it stated it in the email small print when we booked the offer..... "OBC is NOT: refundable, transferable, redeemable for cash. "  It also states this when you apply Stock OBC.... "This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account"

So I guess I knew by reading the fine print when I booked and when I applied for stock credit.

Thank you. Well, just use it up and have fun.

Somebody in another thread had mentioned if you need to use some OBC up and want to carry some $ to another cruise, you can buy Carnival Gift Cards in the shops and then apply those to your next cruise.

Haven't done it myself yet, but probably going to try as our cruise in 3 weeks is a 4 day Bimini cruise with like $300 OBC from a cancelled cruise, but I doubt we use even $100, so we'll have to find a way to try and flip some to our December cruise. (Don't want to just waste free $ on stuff we don't want to do)
