See my amended comment. I never add more cruise cash than I expect to spend

I do the same.  I use it in the Casino so can always cash out if needed. I like uploading to Cruise Cash so I KNOW it is there.  No surprises on board.  I accidentily deleted one of my ecards and it was a pain to get the email reisssued.

This maybe an easier way for some my AMEX card gives me 6% back at grocery stores. My Publix sells Carnival Gift Cards. The gift card can be any amount from $100 to $500. I will earn 6% rewards on the purchase. I’m going to purchase for my final payment.

Seems like you would do better saving 10% through Allstate (no membership required). If you buy using a cashback credit card (Citi DoubleCash) you could get 12%.

If you must buy at a grocery store some of the grocery stores eg. Mariano’s in IL give gas points also. Potentially one could get up to 8% in gas points in addition to 6% cash back at grocery stores using the Amex CC…….

I did try Allstate but I could not find gift cards. I saw rewards but I’m not a member.

How do you buy gift cards through Allstate? I do not have insurance through them…

I purchased a couple $500 e-gift cards through Rakuten’s App, which redirects you to SuperShop, who is offering Carnival GCs for ~5% off currently ($473.75 for $500 GC) with additional 2% cash back from Rakuten, but then discovered GCs are excluded from the 2% promotion hahaha, so it’s really hardly any savings at all…

Thanks to a post on this board I purchased gift cards through AARP rewards at a 10%discount. You do not have to be 50 to be a member and membership was $12/yr.  ( Rakuten is offering $6 cash back on 1 yr memberships as well but I neglected to check there first) I purchased though PayPal to get an addition 5% back though Chase Freedom rewards since that is their bonus category this quarter. Every little bit helps!

Same here. I am now 50 but I was not 50 when I became an AARP member….  I have bought thousands of $ of Carnival e-gift cards so have more than made my money back….. and Carnival makes it easy to convert the GC back to real cash but I’m not going to explain how I do it on a public forum……. DM if interested…..

The powers that be at Carnival are fully aware of the casino trick, so YMMV.

Why take the middle step and buy cruise cash?  If you purchase it you need to spend it all, but if you just apply the E cards at customer service if there is anything left over above 10.00 on your account, you will receive an E gift card via email when you get home. If it's under 10.00, it gets donated to St Jude.

Any idea how long this takes for refund
