Nassau Backup plan

So, I just want to be prepared if we end up going to Nassau. We will be on the Carnival Mardi Gras and it sounds like ships that are scheduled to call in Grand Turk have been going to Nassau. January is cutting it close for dock repairs and I’m just not going to allow myself to get my hopes up that we’ll get to go there.

So my 4yr old twins have never been to the ocean and we were so looking forward to going to the beach at Grand Turk. Is there a close beach that we can walk to that’s free in Nassau?

Junkanoo is the closest free beach, but I don't know about walking it with two 4 year olds.

No fake cruise port free beach like at Grand Turk or other cruiseline created stops.

 

Maybe you get lucky and get switched to Half Moon Cay or Bimini which both have free beaches at the end of the pier or a tender ride over.

Junkanoo would be quite far for short 4 year old legs.  You could grab a cab at the port.

It's a hike, especially when it's hot, but really not that terribly far. We've walked it many times. Here's my six year old (at the time) there in 2013. This was before Margaritaville.

Having watched my then four year old tumble to the floor in a taxi when my parents insisted we ride without car seats, I never put my kids in that position again.

Great pics and he is a handsome boy!!  Maybe a collapsible stroller?  My DDs at 12 and 14 complained about walking through Central Park in NYC and it was a beautiful day.  Crazy!😉

People think we are crazy for walking far distances with kids but is why. It’s easier to walk then car seats or dealing with them in a car without

FYI - the dock repairs in Grand Turk are complete and ships are scheduled to return starting today. (October 11)
