gentlemancruiser Posted October 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Will be arriving at the Mayflower Terminal next month. I was planning on taking a train into London. How easy is it to get from the terminal to the station? From Google maps it looks close by. Will there be taxi's available to take me or could I walk? Bob++ Posted October 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Either. It will depend on the weather, how much luggage you have and how fit you are. There will be taxis, but don't cut it too fine if you pre-book your rail ticket.
wowzz Posted October 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Loads of taxis available at the terminal, or you could Uber.
Rare John Bull Posted October 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2022 London-bound trains depart from Platform 1, the far side of the station (Bletchyenden Terrace). Access by crossing the tracks on Central Station Bridge, then right and right again. Or use the Western Esplanade entrance and the elevator from Platform 4 to Platform 1. It's a 25-minute walk from Mayflower Terminal, on broadly level ground. Or there'll be taxis at the cruise terminal, fare about £8. Sometimes there's a line at the taxi rank but it moves quickly - almost all wanting a taxi will be bound for the train or coach stations or a local hotel. Tell the driver you need the London-bound side. Monday-to-saturday two trains per hour, journey time about 90 minutes. Walk-up train tickets cost £49.10 pp. So pre-purchase advance tickets, from about £21 pp But be aware that advance tickets are only good for the train time that you select - if you miss that train your tickets are trash & you'll have to buy tickets for the next train at £49.10. I suggest you book for the 9.30am or 10.00am train. If you are allocated a late disembarkation slot, ask at Customer Relations for an earlier slot, citing your onward transportation. Your departure station is Southampton Central & your destination is London Waterloo https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ JB 🙂
