aynt79 Posted October 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) We are cruising in December and looking into the casino credit line instead of having to carry a bunch of cash/use the ATM. For anyone who has done it before how does it work? Hoping to convince my husband it wouldn't be a hassle. If we are approved, does the person just go to the cage to withdraw cash against it or is it all electronic? If you cash in your chips daily, do they apply it back to your credit line instead of handing back cash? MotownVoice Posted October 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2022 Whew. This concept is scary. I usually find I get tired of losing money about halfway through the 3rd night of the cruise.

LaCal Posted October 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2022 Casinos At Sea also offers credit lines for players who meet eligibility requirements. To apply for Casino credit, please fill out our online Casino Credit Application Form. The minimum credit request is $5,000. Applications are processed 30 days prior to sailing. Email casinocredit@ncl.com or call 1 (877) 625-2094 for more details. Casinos At Sea will not run a hard credit inquiry on applicants, and only base credit decisions on player banking and gaming history as provided by third party agencies. Once approved, players must present a personal check to the Casino Cashier onboard the ship.

If the word "credit" is what is scary, it's not actually credit (as in borrowing money to gamble and paying it off in payments with interest.) It's literally like cashing a check, only you don't fill out the amount until the end of the cruise. I did that for many years until I realized there were much better ways to avoid carrying large amounts of cash on NCL. I opened an NCL credit card which pays 3 times points for NCL purchases. Those points can then be converted to refundable OBC. I draw my gaming money throughout the cruise against my NCL folio and then pay the final bill with the NCL card. (I then pay off the NCL card balance in full when I get home.) Because of my status with the casino, I do not pay any service charges to draw money against my onboard account. However despite your casino status, if you are a serious player ($$$) then the casino host will most likely pick up those charges anyway.

I'm asking because I wonder if one (without the service charge waiver) can just buy (well up to $1000 per reservation) refundable obc for themselves and then withdraw it throughout the cruise. Or is it still considered a cash withdrawal and the amount plus a service charge will be deducted from the OBC?

The refundable OBC would have to be used on a future cruise. Once the charge hits the NCL credit card (and 3 times points are awarded), you can then redeem those points online. You specify your future cruise date/confirmation # and the OBC is added to your account (I can't remember if it is added in time to use it for pre-booking of shore excursions etc. because I just use mine for gambling.) Even when I win during the cruise, I never pay down my folio balance. I let it grow & grow lol. So I usually have a final account charge of at least $10K which gives me $300 on board credit (free money - yay lol) PS BTW, you can also use the NCL points for cruise cabin upgrades.
