karl_nj Posted October 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2022 (edited) Mostly likely "The Effectors 3", since Icon is continuing to target the same demographic as RCL has been targeting for years: teenagers and their families. Even "The Gift" on Anthem of the Seas has a "BMX Bike Trick Scene", because I assume Nick Wier thinks that is what teens must be into these days. TheHawk1 Posted October 25, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2022 If Wonder of the Seas is any indication, then the future trend is not looking good. While the Ice show and Aqua Show were still as good as previous Oasis class versions, the main theatre productions were not great (and that's being kind). It's been years since Royal promoted themselves as the "Broadway at Sea" cruise line. Now they're offering generic shows that are designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, i.e the attention span of children.
barb in ga Posted October 25, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2022 We are fans of the entertainment and music options on the big ships. Favorites are Aquashow, Ice Skating, and adult comedy. For the most part, the shows in Royal theater are just OK, especially since our last three cruises post covid didn't include the production shows, ie: Blue Planet, Columbus, etc. Hopefully with cruises sailing full they will include options that were temporarily stopped due to staff shortages and illness. Don't forget that Wonder was initially destined and built for the Asian market which had a big impact on shows. By the time they decided to move her to the US it was too late to change them and there is still the possibility that she eventually goes to Asia.
