Exciting new archaeological find near Siena

I just saw this very exciting news about a huge cache of statues and coins unearthed in an ancient spa located near Siena in Tuscany.  The statues date from probably the most exciting era of the western Roman world, from a couple of centuries BCE to 2nd c. CE. Some of them have strong Etruscan influences and even Etruscan names. Maybe it will help researchers decipher more of their language and history...

It will likely be several years until these are on display as I'm sure restoration is needed. But wow, another good reason to spend time in Siena....  😉
