mirglip69 Posted November 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2022 Hello friends. We are looking to book the Toa Luau at Waimea Valley. The luau ends at 8:00PM. Ship leaves at 11:00 and we have to drop the rental at the airport Avis before heading back to the ship. Is three hours plenty of time to get back to the airport, drop the rental and taxi back to the port? Seems so to me, but wanted to ask those who have been there before. Thanks

Budget an hour to get to HNL-- it should be a little shorter than that at that time but pad it a little. That puts you at Avis (with a fuel stop to top off which will add a little more time) around 9:30. You can just grab an Uber from Avis. Figure that you get in at 9:45 and you'll be back at the pier no later than 10:15. If the ship leaves at 11pm, your all aboard time will likely be more like 10:30. So you should have enough time but you don't have a ton of time. Basically things would need to be smooth-- traffic (which you shouldn't at that hour) or something like a flat could put you in a weird spot but otherwise it should be ok. Silver Sweethearts Posted November 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2022 When you check the time of the luau, the information we saw said the show itself runs until 8:30 p.m. If so, unless you want to leave early and miss part of the show, you are really cutting it pretty close. Remember that on board time means just that - being all the way on board your ship and not just arriving by taxi at the port facility.
mirglip69 Posted November 17, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted November 17, 2022 Thanks for the info. After a little more digging, we booked the luau at the Disney resort instead. Much closer and less stress on getting back on time!

You won't even need a rental car for Aulani-- you could easily just do that in an Uber and not even have to bother dropping the car at HNL.
