Thank If you belong to AAA then give a decent rate, I was able to get some British pounds last Fall within a week. In the past I always used a local ATM, but this past summer when in Amsterdam there were no banks around with a ATM, all banking is done online. Ended up using an ATM that was outside, and only did so since saw no other way to get Euros. Also if you choose to use an ATM look into a Charles Schwab account, they reimbursement all fess at ATM's worldwide, otherwise it can be very costly due to the fees. One time it cost me $16 for 100 British pounds in fees from my bank.
nwcruiselover Posted March 27, 2023 #178 Share Posted March 27, 2023 I order my foreign currency through my on-line Bank of America account and it’s delivered to our local branch the following day. Decent exchange rate. Also, if you don’t use it all, the bank will take it back at their “buy” rate. You lose a little, but at least they do take it back. And, always charge it in the LOCAL currency, not US dollars. That will save you all sorts of conversion fees and poor exchange rates. Otherwise, I've always just gotten small amounts of cash at local ATM's of large national banks. Check with your bank to see if they have any foreign arrangements. DO NOT use the Euronet ATM machines that are notorious for charging high fees. They are just one step above the Currency Exchange Bureaus. Also, check with your bank to see if they have a "senior" program. Many do for those over 50 or so that will highly reduce your fees.

Any tours still have openings? Details? Our first Transatlantic (currently on a 35 day cruise in the South Pacific), but been to Barcelona 3 times already and love it there! Hi there from sunny Florida (currently working in Orgeon,...brr!) I booked 2 tours with Spain Day Tours. In Lisbon it is the 1/2 day tour to Fatima for 69 euros. The other tour is from the Malaga port going to Alhambra and Granada. The tour price is 79 euros plus 20 for entry into Alhambra. Their website is www.spaindaytours.com Both tours have several people from the ship going. In Halifax we booked a tour with Halifax Titanic Historical Tours. It is a small group with max of 10 people. It is a 6 hour tour and the price is $115 UDS. We are going to tour historic Halifax, Dartmouth and Fisherman's Cove. The website is www.halifaxtitanictours.ca Enjoy your time in the South Pacific. Mary

Many do, but its easy enough to find one that doesn't.

East<>coaster Posted April 5, 2023 #190 Share Posted April 5, 2023 My wife and I will be onboard for this Trans-Atlantic. Second crossing but first time coming from Europe. We want to see how the time change impacts us coming back (gaining vs loosing). Also, great ports of call. We have travelled with Carnival many times and I hope the weather and seas of the Atlantic are great for us all.

The problem is my situation wasn't treated as a renewal. Since I lost my previous one, I had to start over with the ton of documentation. And one of the pieces of documentation was supposed to be an official, unexpired, photo ID. I don't have any other photo ID; my passport was all I had. I'm hoping they decide a stupid old lady deserves a break. One piece of good news: As expected, my travel insurance denied my claims. But since I bought and paid for the insurance at the time of booking, Carnival will give me a 75% FCC that I can apply to a couple future cruises. So I'm not totally out the money. Karen Sorry to hear about your lost passport and consequently cancelled Miracle cruise Karen. What a shock. Glad that Carnival insurance gets you 75% back as FCC. Hope your new passport arrives soon.

mik0227 Posted April 12, 2023 Author #200 Share Posted April 12, 2023 Greetings from south MS, I have a quick question for those that have cruised this itinerary before. We are US passport holders and will be flying in a week before the cruise to bcn, Are there any visa requirements for this cruise and the ports. At one time I thought Canada had a visa or visa exemption requirement, but that may not be needed for cruise passengers.
