First night kids club

Hi I wanted to make reservations for dinner. Is the kids club open on the first night or should we avoid a specialty dinner that night?

Yes, Kid's Club is open the first night, typically opens at 7 or 8pm depending on the sailing and departure time.  If you are making specialty reservations I would recommend making them on the later side.

The first night is the most important night for the kids to go to the club. They make friends. If they show up later in the cruise, they may be iced out.
