Half Day Excursion or DIY options?

We are there from 6am to 1pm so not a ton of time but wondering what people might suggest? Was thinking about doing a golf cart down to the flamingo area but sounds like you can't get that close to them.

 

We have 2 kids with us 5 and 3 so some things are not an option (like biking).

There is a donkey sanctuary on Bonaire.  Would your children enjoy this?  You could rent the golf cart, view flamingos on the way and then go to the donkey sanctuary.
