Seaside facing OC?

The impression I have is that it's almost always the starboard side facing the island. The ship usually comes in early morning with the port side facing the island, then spins around before it docks so that it can head straight back out the way it came when it's time to leave. The deep water channel doesn't continue on past the island, so the ship has to turn around to head back out.
