Hotel recommendation for San Diego

We are currently staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside in San Diego.  We are cruising on the Diamond Princess tomorrow to Hawaii.  Just want to give this hotel a shout out.  Clean hotel, friendly staff and FREE transportation from the airport AND to the port in the morning.  Also, lots of restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store just a 10 minute walk away.

Thanks for sharing.  I was just looking at places to stay.  It actually doesn't mention on their site that they offer shuttle to the port.  Curious if there is anything else to do besides grocery store and restaurant? Trying to avoid car rental, but will be arriving early in the day... 🥲

While it isn't the most interesting hotel in San Diego the Wyndham San Diego Bayside is essentially right across the street from the cruise terminal.  On site dining.  Also across the street from the San Diego Maritime Museum and very close to the Midway (aircraft carrier museum).

You can walk to Liberty Station from the Holiday Inn.

I am confused by the "It actually doesn't mention on their site that they offer shuttle to the port" if you are referring to the Holiday Inn because their landing page (first page) says:

"Make travel easy & stay at our hotel near San Diego International Airport.  San Diego Bay Hotel  Enjoy the best of Southern California at this bay front hotel. The Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside is located in the popular Point Loma neighborhood, across from the Marina and Naval Base Point Loma, and only 1.5 miles to the San Diego Int'l Airport. Enjoy the convenience of complimentary airport shuttle service to San Diego International Airport and the Cruiseship terminals."

We stayed there as well - a short walk up the hill to a bunch of good restaurants - and an inexpensive liquor store on the way back. (Helped when HAL used to let you bring wine on board - not sure now that they have gotten pretty thoroughly Carnivalized.)
