Port Everglades Fort Lauderdale walking

Is it possible to walk into Port Everglades Fort lauderdale? I am unsure as doesn't appear to say this on port website. I'm going on a Princess cruise in March and will be staying near the port. Am flying in from UK and the port looks massive on google maps. Understand can get a shuttle but just wondered if anyone walks into the port, rather than drive in. 

 

Also, am doing a B2B cruise and wondering what there us to do in FLL on a normal port stop. Are we allowed to leave the port area?

You can walk to Terminal 2/4. Otherwise, no.

 

You don't have to stay in the port. The ship will offer an excursion or two. If you are at Terminal 2, you can walk to the water taxi stop...a great way to see the area. Many discussions of the water taxi and other activities on this board.
