Considering a TA in April, 2023

My husband and I are considering our first TA cruise, leaving Fort Lauderdale and arriving in Barcelona in April, and are wondering about pool time. We have only cruised in the Caribbean and have enjoyed spending time at the pool on sea days. Is it unrealistic for us to expect to do the same on a TA? Is the pool normally open and what are weather conditions on that cruise for that time of year?

April will be a perfect weather.  Have done that cruise 4=times and loved the weather for pool enjoyment.

The Lido should be open (barring cleaning or repairs or rough seas) and has a dome even if it's raining. If it's warm enough they will open the roof dome.

we made the mistake of taking a Princess TA cruise last March (one and done, never again Princess).....Several days the weather was bad and the lido pool area was of no use......Princess has no retractable roof over their Lido pool.

 

No so with HAL....every day can be a pool day with that retractable roof!

I hope you have similar weather like what we had in November's Westbound crossing. The only negative to an EB crossing are the shorter 23-hour days to advance the clock.

I did that specific cruise last April. I enjoyed many hot tub hours.  Others enjoyed the pool.  I don’t recall a day I didn’t visit the pools.

Maybe less pool time toward Barcelona:  it depends.
