Beaches and seaweed

Hello are the beaches at Costa Maya and Mahahual filled with sea weed.  Thank.  We are sailing 14 January on Adventure of Seas from Galveston, and will be at Costa Maya on 16th.  Havenot planned on any beach yet.  Thank you.

seaweed season is May-October, so I have read.

Try checking the web cams at Pez Quadro and Maya Chan for real time.

 

I suspect you will be OK in January but we have had it start by March.

Last week in Costa Maya - seaweed was awful-  that would have been Jan4th

I expect to be there March 15, 2023. Wondering what to expect with regards to seaweed.  The last time we went, the cruise line advised against the beaches for this reason.

I would expect it to be starting around then but it seems to have started early this year. It is impossible to predict but you will see it while sailing and certainly as you pull into Costa Maya.

 

Normally i would check webcams at Maya Chan and pez Quadro but they were both down last time i checked.
